The Livingston Ladies had a strong showing last weekend at the Panhandle Invitational in Pensacola,Fl. Both Lady teams played up one grade level, making their performance even more impressive.
The freshman team finished 3-1, and won second place in the tournament. The freshman Ladies started the weekend undefeated beating Blue Chips, 34-20, topping Panhandle Select, 46-27, and out-dueling the Mississippi Lady Braves, 40-39.
Tailyn Underwood led the way for the freshman with 15 points in the first game, finishing the weekend with 39 points including seven 3-pointers.
Bailey Armstrong and Katie Brignac both put up- double digits as well in the first showdown with the Braves. The Ladies came up just short of a championship, falling to the same Braves squad, 33-46.
The 10th grade Ladies started the weekend 1-2, advancing to bracket play on Sunday.
The Ladies beat the Mobile Hoopsters, 39-35, before falling to FDD and Panhandle Select on Saturday. They got a rematch with FDD Sunday morning, but failed to get things rolling on offense losing, 31-16.
All 12 Ladies scored throughout the weekend, led by Mackayla Dykes who dropped 38 this weekend, followed by Bronte Tate with 22, Katelyn Broussard with 19 and Kala Freeman with 17.
The freshman Ladies travel to Port Barre for the Easter Classic this weekend, while the sophomore team has the weekend off before traveling to Laurel, Miss., next weekend.
